Juniors in the rowing world are rowers in high school, while middle schoolers are “mods.” But our juniors program covers both categories, so people aged 11-18 are all encouraged to come out. We’ve got two groups, which are explained below, and they go by the team name “BRASS,” proudly wearing our brass-colored uniforms and harking back to our old club name.
Our juniors are boys and girls from local public, private, and home schools. They sweep and scull. They row singles, doubles, quads, and fours. They cox and navigate. They learn leadership and followership. They erg and race. They de-rig and load. And they become physically strong and technically proficient in the process.
We’re proud to have skilled coaching from among our paid staff and our many volunteers, and we’re grateful to have a parent-and-guardian group that offers of their time, talent, and treasure.
If you’re a new rower, you’re in 8th grade or below, or you aren’t interested in competition, the “Middle School Juniors” program is for you. Practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4-6 PM, and Saturdays, 9-11 AM, May 1-June 15; the cost is $280.
If you’re an experienced rower who’s in high school and interested in competition, sign up for “High School Juniors,” which practices on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 4-6 PM, and Saturdays, 9-11 AM, June 11; the cost is $360.
